Course Name: NUR 250 Nursing Care and Management along the Health Continuum

Objective assignment will meet: Manager of Care
1. Compare and contrast the different types of conflict.
2. Discuss the various sources of conflict.
3. Compare and contrast the various approaches to conflict resolution.
4. Discuss the positive outcomes of this conflict


Description of Previous Assignment:
The students were provided with the assigned textbook readings, completed a conflict self-assessment survey (this will be a blog when I figure out how to get a site), and then were given case studies to apply the concepts. This has been done in class in groups and online as an individual assignment.

Rationale for Assignment Revision:
To get the students to analyze a conflict situation that they have been directly involved in. They would have to identify the type of conflict, the souces of the conflict, what conflict resolution approach they used to resolve the conflict and why, and the positive outcomes of the conflict. I believe that the students would get a better understanding of the concepts related to conflict management if they could discuss a conflict they were personally involved in this semester in the clinical setting.

Technology to be Used:
Wiki software, internet search

Instructions students will need to use technology:
I will have to provide the students with instructions on how to use the wiki software by providing them with a website with directions and by putting the directions online on Educator.

Brief Description of Content Students will need to accomplish the assignment:
I want the students to share their experiences so other students will be able to learn from them. They would learn how to handle different types of conflict situations. Students would also need to be able to utilize the wiki space and be able to use the internet.

Instructions for Students to Complete the Assignment:
1. I would need to provide an orientation on how to use the wiki
2. I would provide an online site with directions.
3. I would put written instructions on Educator.

Grading Criteria, Rubric, and Assessment:
1. I would personally grade the student responses to their situation and give them points for application of the
content in their required readings, such as an overall description of the conflict situation, who was involved, various
sources of the conflict and how they lead the the conflict, identification of the appropriate type of conflict,
discussion of the type of conflict resolution strategy used to resolve the conflict ( describes the conflict resolution
style, why was it the most appropriate style to use etc.) and discuss positive outcomes of this conflict.
